1. What is AzamPesa?

AzamPesa is a mobile wallet that allows you to perform transactions affordably. These include sending and receiving money, buying airtime, merchant payments, paying bills like electricity and water, government payments, performing bank transfers and paying for Azam services like Azam boat tickets, AzamTV subscription packages, Sarafu bills and more.

2. How can I get registered on AzamPesa?

The information you need to register for AzamPesa are:
– NIDA Number
– Mobile Number
Ways to register for AzamPesa are:
i. Self-registration
– Download the AzamPesa App on Google Play Store or iOS App Store
– Click on Self-registration
– Fill in your phone number and your NIDA number
– Enter the OTP password sent to your mobile number
– Verify your NIDA number by answering simple questions
– After successful registration, Dial *150*08# or Use AzamPesa App to set your new PIN.

ii. Biometric registration
– Customer can physically register for AzamPesa using Biometric devices on various places.
– Can be through AzamPesa Freelancers who walk in different areas across Tanzania OR in any of Azam Shops (Includes Azam TV shops and kiosk, Azam Ice-cream shops and Azam foods stores).
– You will need a NIDA ID and phone number.

3. Do I need an Azam Sim card to use AzamPesa?e

AzamPesa does not have nor require an Azam sim card. AzamPesa operates on all networks, once you register you will be able to access AzamPesa services.
AzamPesa is available through the USSD *150*08# and App to Tigo, Airtel and TTCL simcard users. Is only available via App to Vodacom and Halotel simcard users.

4. What do I need to register?

To register, you will need a phone number of any mobile network and your NIDA number.

5. What makes AzamPesa different?

The main differences between AzamPesa and other available mobile services are:
i. It can be used with any mobile network. It is not tied to specific mobile Network
ii. Customers can self-register anywhere anytime through smartphones.
iii. Send money FREE from AzamPesa to AzamPesa.
iv. Transact Affordably across all transactions
v. Get double rewards; when you self-register for AzamPesa and when you make any first transaction.
vi. Availability, AzamPesa is now available in any Posta offices in Tanzania.
vii. AzamPesa GUSA card that allows customers to transact in areas with no mobile network.

6. What can I do with AzamPesa that I cannot do with other wallets?

iv. AzamPesa GUSA cards

a) GUSA cards for Tranx
This is a type of Gusa cards that are linked to AzamPesa accounts. These can be used for normal AzamPesa transactions with additional usage as Ncard, like using it to enter Tanzania national stadiums. They are also used for transactions in areas without networks in Tanzania. Enabling Tanzanians living in rural areas without network or with weak network to access financial services in the areas.
b) AzamFC Fan cards
Gusa cards also functions as a card that can be given to a specific society or club specifically as an identification card for its members. However, these cards are directly linked to AzamPesa, adding value and reasons to members of the club or society. They can be used for transactions and payment for various products. For AzamFC Fan cards, members get discounts when purchasing AzamFC merchandise or match tickets as planned by the club.
c) Pocket Money Cards
This is a function of Gusa card that is used as pocket money card for students. They are linked to parents or guardian Azampesa number and given to students to be used as ID and pocket money cards. In school a student can use for purchase of different things as per school policies. All Transaction report messages will be received by the parents’ phone number. Enabling parents to monitor students’ purchases.

How to Register
– Visit GUSA Agent with your NIDA and phone number
– The agent will first register the customer for AzamPesa
– Then, will Link GUSA Card with customers’ AzamPesa Number
– After successful linkage, customer can start using the GUSA card

How to Use
– Receive Money on your AzamPesa
– Visit GUSA Agent with your GUSA Card
– Select the required service
– Tap GUSA Card on the agent’s device (POS)
– Enter PIN

7. What can I do with AzamPesa?

You can perform various transactions affordably with AzamPesa. Such as: sending and receiving money, bill payments, purchasing airtime, government payments, paying for Azam services, doing bank transfers and more.

8. How do I access AzamPesa?

You can access AzamPesa services through AzamPesa App and by dialing *150*08# through the Tigo, TTCL or Airtel simcards.

9. When I dial *150*08#, it says the service is not available

If you can’t access AzamPesa Menu this indicates that you are not registered with AzamPesa or you have a Vodacom or Halotel simcard. If you have not registered, please see above for registration details. If you have a Vodacom or Halotel sim, you can only access AzamPesa by App for the time being.

10. Where can I send Money with AzamPesa?

You can send money for free AzamPesa wallet and very affordably to other mobile wallets or Banks.

11. Who can I send money to via Azampesa?

You can send money for free to anyone who is registered on AzamPesa and very affordably to other mobile wallets and Banks.

12. What is the Limit of sending money?

You can send any amount up to 5 million TZS at once from AzamPesa to AzamPesa.

13. Where can I cash out?

You can withdraw money from AzamPesa Agents near you, at any Posta offices in Tanzania and at any Azam shops (AzamTV, Azam Ice-cream and Azam Food shops).

17. How do I change my PIN

To change your old PIN to new PIN

18. How can I fund my AzamPesa account?

There are three convenient methods to deposit money into your AzamPesa account:
i. AzamPesa Agent:
Visit a nearby AzamPesa agent to deposit funds into your account. They are found:
– Across streets of Tanzania
– At any Posta offices in Tanzania
– At any Azam shops (Azam Ice-cream shops, AzamTV shops and Azam Food stores)
ii. Receive Money:
a) Receive from AzamPesa wallets
– Dial *150*08#
– Select 1, Send money
– Select 1, Send money to AzamPesa
– Fill in the AzamPesa number
– Enter Amount
– PIN
b) Receive from all other Mobile wallets
– Dial the mobile wallet menu
– Choose send money
– Choose send money to other mobile wallets
– Choose to send to AzamPesa
– Enter AzamPesa registered number starting with 1 instead of 0
– Enter Amount

c) Receive from Banks
Transfer and Receive money from any banks to AzamPesa
